The hard working floor
Vinyl flooring offers a viable alternative to other forms of floor covering.
Most vinyls are extremely durable and long lasting. The smooth surface finish
ensures there are no pores or traps in which dust or loose fibres can collect,
making it hygienic and easy to maintain. The essential factors effecting the performance
are the wear layer and the density of the PVC. A vinyl may feel soft and pliable
but tear easily when furniture is moved over it , so look for a firm vinyl rather
than one that is overly cushioned.
Modern vinyl floors are designed to be warmer, more comfortable and quieter than
their predecessors. They are waterproof from below and above and can be laid
on most subfloors.
Vinyl floors are available in 2, 3, and 4 metre widths and in an average size
room are designed to 'loose-lay' except for a strip of double sided
antiplas tape in doorways and along joints.
There is a tremendous choice of designs and colourways, including many wood effect
patterns.
Massive stocks
Mays are probably the country's biggest stockists of vinyl flooring, with huge
selections of 2m, and 3m vinyls instantly available from stock. |
