What is laminate flooring?

Laminate flooring is the increasingly popular alternative. It looks like real wood, but is in fact a high quality photographic foil, printed with the colour and pattern of oak, beech, cherry and other woods, mounted on a baseboard, then a tough protective top layer of hard wearing scratch resistant resin is added to make it exceptionally durable.
