Whether you are buying carpet, vinyl flooring,
wood or laminate flooring, carpet tiles or rugs, Mays will be able
to give you advice on which option to buy in your particular situation.
Carpets
There are many types of carpet available, twists, saxonies,
velvets, patterned, sculptured, woven or tufted. Each comes in a whole range
of pile contents, wool, nylon, polypropylene, polyester or in many cases a
mix of two or several fibres. Each fibre has its own advantages -nylon for
pure abrasion resistance, polypropylene for stain resistance, wool for resilience
and general appearance retention, so a mix of say 80% wool and 20% synthetic
would give a good all round performance. You must also look for pile weight
and construction. It is very important to compare like with like. Two carpets
may look similar at face value, but differ greatly in content and construction
and therefore will differ greatly in wear and appearance retention.
